The Culinary Management Bachelor’s Degree Program at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh - Online Division is designed to develop successful managers by teaching the skills necessary to address the critical issues encountered in the field.
This is a Culinary Management education program – meaning no cooking courses – where students will study business courses such as human resource management, accounting, hospitality law and ethics.
Designed by culinary professionals for culinary professionals, this program provides students who qualify for admission the opportunity to learn from experienced culinary practitioners while focusing on areas as varied as food and beverage operations, cost controls, purchasing and event management.
Additionally, Culinary Management courses in marketing, customer service, communication and leadership can help students develop critical thinking and interpersonal skills, leveraging students’ existing culinary and industry skills to build new culinary and restaurant management skills.
This bachelor's degree completion program is the perfect choice for working culinary professionals who want to enhance their career potential and who have already:
- Completed an accredited cooking program or
- Completed an ACF approved apprenticeship or
- Currently hold an ACF certification

According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, “Food service manager jobs are expected to grow 5 percent, or more slowly than the average for all occupations through 2018. However, job opportunities should be good because many openings will arise from the need to replace managers who leave the occupation.
Employment of food service managers is expected to grow 5 percent, or more slowly than the average for all occupations, during the 2008-18 decade, as the number of eating and drinking establishments opening is expected to decline from the previous decade. Despite these reductions in the number of new eating and drinking places, new employment opportunities for food service managers will emerge in grocery and convenience stores and other retail and recreation industries to meet the growing demand for quick food in a variety of settings.”
